‘Paving the Way’ Virtual STEAM Careers Festival

We are delighted to be taking part in “Paving the Way”, a virtual STEAM Careers Festival hosted by The Pledge

The focus is for Years 9 to 13 and the aim is to inspire and encourage students to set some career related goals. Students will have the opportunity to learn about different career sectors, complete an online careers pack and apply for a virtual job in their chosen field. Eight students will “win” a job after successful completion (prize of Amazon voucher)

Spread over four days (Tuesday 19 – Friday 22 May), students will be invited to take part in a range of different activities:

Day 1 Tues 19 May
11:00 – 11:45 Online Launch of festival · Explanation of the journey, online workbook and “Win a Job” challenge

Day 2 Wed 20 May
09:00 – 14:30 Self-directed study – watch choice of six 10-min videos · Students have all day to watch six of the “Day in the Life” videos throughout the day (up to one-hour total computer time) · Students then submit form to tell us which employers they would like to find out more about and submit their questions for the next day.

Day 3 Thurs 21 May
10:00 – 14:45 Employer Q&A – choice of TWO 45 min sessions · Students are asked to log in at the appropriate time to the appropriate “Meeting Room” in order to listen to the live broadcast of the employer answering the pre-submitted questions (hosted by a member of the Pledge team) · Pledge host introduces the Employer Guest and poses the pre-submitted questions. · If time allows, take some questions from the live student audience · These will be recorded and available after

Day 4 Fri 22 May
10:00 – 14:45 Activity Suite – Students pick THREE 45 min sessions · Choice of Higher Ed or Further Ed chat room · Choice of two interactive careers activities · These will be recorded and available aft
