Covid-19 Daily Update 18/3/20

Dear Parents / Carers

At the time of writing this, government advice for schools is unchanged, schools are to remain open. We currently have no plans to shut the school

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone parents / carers, students and staff for how we have all coped with this very difficult situation. People have really pulled together and it is vital that we continue to do so over the coming days and weeks. All of us who are following the news will rightly feel very concerned and even frightened. It is vital that we do not pass our own fears and anxiety onto our young people. One of the positive things about this last week or so has been observing our students going about their everyday lives in spite of what else is going on in the world. For all humans, normality, routine and spending time with friends helps alleviate the concerns that we all have.

At the time of writing this, there is still no announcement from the government in terms of this year’s GCSE and A level exams. I know as a parent of a current year 11 child myself, that our GCSE and A level students (as well as staff) are desperate for clarity on this issue. As soon as I hear anything, I will let you know.

In terms of additional actions taken in school today;

We have taken the decision to cancel all assemblies for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again for your continued support it is much appreciated.

Best wishes and take care

Richard Middlebrook
