World Book Day

School News

World Book Day saw some staff dressed as book characters. Mrs Cleaver came as Mrs Banks from Mary Poppins, very topical as recently had the 100 year anniversary of women being given the vote in 1918.
Activities in the MFL department have been based on Le Petit Prince (Anton de St Exupery) Adivina Adivinanza (a riddle) by Tomás de Iriarte and Aschenputtel (Brothers Grimm) amongst others.

Activities included story writing and in Y12 students looked at the origins of WBD and how it is celebrated in Spain – where interestingly it originated!

Thank you for all the old books we have had donated, they will be going to a charity book shop.

£1 WBD books are still available for students to collect with their vouchers from the LRC.

We enjoyed a busy time with World Book Day 2020 celebrations. WBD vouchers were issued to students that can be used in local bookshops to exchange for a free book or as a £1 discount off any book.

WBD saw staff dressing up as various book characters with the students trying to guess their costumes.

This year we ran a ‘Decorate your Door’ competition for all form groups. I am sure you will agree from the photos there was some fantastic creations, and wonderful to see so many of the form groups getting involved.
