Sporting Round Up (W/B 2nd October)

Netball HOME v Holmes Chapel

On Tuesday, we honoured Pat Arnott who was an Alsager legend not only within school, but within the Netball community, by doing a minutes applaud before our matches against Holmes Chapel.

All girls played their hearts out to honour Pat in every game. Alsager played extremely well, with 5 wins out of 6. In Year 7a they won by 8 – 1 against Holmes Chapel, with Darcie and Lily being named players of the match. 7b also played really well with another 8 – 1, with Sienna claiming player of the match. In Year 8, it was a tough match, but the girls held their own in the second half, but unfortunately lost 8 – 4. In Year 9, it was an excellent match with both teams working well with a win of 6 – 3. Coming off a loss from last week, the Year 10 girls were determined to win this round of Netball and won 7 – 2. It was an excellent match with Molly being named player’s player. Finally, in Year 11, the girls gave it their all and won an astonishing 11 – 7. Well played to all girls who competed, it was an excellent night for Netball and to celebrate the life of Pat.

Cheshire Cup – Year 9 Football v Cransley

Year 9s solidified their next stage in the Cheshire Cup against Cransley with a 9 – 0 win. Alsager pupils worked well to keep the opposition at bay, with pupils scoring great goals.

Cheshire Cup – U16 Girls v Bridgewater

Unfortunately, the U16s girls got knocked out of the first round of their Cheshire Cup game. It was a hard-fought game from Alsager. Despite our many shots on goal, the opposition had a strong goalkeeper. The score ended up 7 – 1. With Ella scoring a fantastic goal for Alsager from a free kick.

Cheshire Cup – Year 10 v Hartford/ U13 Girls v Hartford

Unfortunately, the Year 10 boys got knocked out of the Cheshire Cup and lost 7 – 1.

Where as the U13 girls (Year 7/8) had a great first game in the Cheshire Cup and won 3 – 2. It was a very close game, but the Alsager girls worked hard to make it 3 – 2. Well done.

Cheshire Cup – U14 Girls v Macclesfield Academy

The U14 girls kicked off their Cheshire Cup tournament on Thursday. It was a fantastic game, with Alsager dominating the opponent’s half for most of the game, with lots of chances on goal. All girls worked well together as a team which resulted in a 4 – 1 win! Ella scored 2 cracking goals, with Evie and Indie scoring 2 great goals as well. Well done girls.

Sporting Honours

A big well done to Charlie in Year 7 and his Cricket success over the summer. Charlie plays for Audley Cricket team under 12s. Their team won the league over the summer, which is a fantastic triumph. Well done Charlie and the rest of the team.
