Parents in Partnership

Dear Parent / Carer

School funding and the very difficult financial situation facing all schools has been well publicised recently and was certainly high on the topics discussed during the recent general election. I have previously contacted you on this issue and the financial difficulties we face here at Alsager. We have been very prudent over recent years and are in a much healthier financial position than many other schools. However, we are facing a very difficult future, mainly due to the removal of certain key government grants, significant increases in employer pension and national insurance contributions we have to pay, all of which are unfunded increases.

Over recent weeks I have been over whelmed by the support and positive comments from parents and carers on this issue of school funding. Many of you have asked how you could make a financial contribution to help the school? The short answer to that is, it is very easy. We have a voluntary contribution scheme here at Alsager that has run for many years now. It is called ‘Parents in Partnership’.

This voluntary scheme encourages parents and carers to make a one off, or even better, regular payments to school of any amount, ranging from £5 per month upwards. Plus, if you are a UK tax payer, the school can also claim back an additional 25% of your amount from the government through tax relief.

My thanks once again to all those existing parents and carers who contribute to ‘Parents in Partnership’. Your kind donations have helped us enrich the curriculum, resources and opportunities for our young people here at Alsager. These range from specific scientific equipment, to advanced technology resources, to funding various workshops for students, to sports equipment and digital photography to name a few. Full details are available on our website under ‘Parents’ and ‘Parents in Partnership’.

Attached and on our website is the form to complete for you to contribute. It is entirely voluntary and you can pick any amount that suits you. Any amount would be gratefully received and appreciated by staff, governors but most importantly the students here at school.

Many thanks

Richard Middlebrook
