Our school jazz band and vocal group were crowned winners of the Love Music Trust Instrumental and Vocal Music competitions respectively. The competition final was held at the Victoria Hall Hanley and was a truly wonderful evening full of quality music and musical performances. Bands and choirs from all around the county had entered the various heats and making it through to the final were Alsager School Jazz Band, Sandbach School Wind Band, Malbank Wind Band, Alsager School Vocal group, Poynton High School Choir and Brine Leas Choir. All the bands and choirs performed brilliantly and the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone attending.
The players and singers from Alsager, ranging from years 7 right up to year 13 played fantastic sets wowing not only the audience but also the two judges, Richard Evans and Keith Orrell. Richard Evans is one of the most charismatic and dynamic conductors within Britain today. He currently holds the title of the musical director of the national youth Brass band of Scotland. Keith Orrell, is the current musical director of the Liverpool Welsh choir and was the Master of the Halle Choir for 7 years.
