Over a number of years we have been part of a successful exchange programme with schools in Vermont in New England, USA. They have visited us a number of times, most recently in February 2017 and are planning to again in February 2019.
We are now planning to visit them in October 2018. The trip will take place over the October Half Term leaving on Thursday 25th October 2018 and returning on 3rd November 2018. We will need 30 students to take part to make the trip viable. This is a fantastic opportunity to visit the USA and have a taste of America.

With the fluctuating exchange rate and flight costs not being confirmed until 11 months before the trip it is difficult to be precise about the cost at this stage, however with such an expensive trip we want to give you as much time as possible to stagger the costs. The cost of the trip therefore will be in the region of £1300 – £1500. We will be able to confirm this in November when we know the cost of flights. The price includes flights, transport, activities in America and hotels in Boston and Cape Cod. The plan is that we will visit an American School in Vermont, staying for the first half of the trip with an American family spending the evenings with the family but days on various excursions and on visits around Vermont and New England. While we are visiting the school, the students will have the opportunity to take part in some lessons to get a flavour of school life in the USA. We will then return to the Boston area for activities including Whale Watching, the Freedom Trail, Boston State House, Quincy Market, Museum of Science, Holocaust Museum, Harvard University before we move on to Cape Cod taking in Hyannis and Martha’s Vineyard.
The dates for our visit to the USA are 25th October – 3rd November 2018.
A deposit will be required to secure your child’s place of £100 which we will need returning to us by 30th September 2017. The balance will need to be paid in full by the end of June 2018.

This is a really exciting opportunity to take part in a cultural visit to the USA and to experience life with an American family. When we visited previously it was a very successful trip and the students benefitted greatly from it.
