As part of their careers research all Year 12 went to an Open Day at the University of Nottingham at the end of June. Students had a great day exploring the whole campus including the sports facilities and Student Union building as well as various university departments. Each
department was open to students so that they could attend lectures, look round the department and speak to university staff and current
students. Many had a look at the university halls of residence where they could visit a typical student room, check out the JCR and social spaces and see the different facilities for catered and non catered accommodation. Mrs Barton said “It was fantastic that we could take whole year group to give them all a glimpse of university life at a prestigious university. This was only possible due to a donation from the school’s Parents in Partnership fund to pay for the coaches so we are very grateful for their support.”
