Dod College students have had a longstanding link with the Teenage Cancer Trust and were delighted to welcome Vanessa Simmons to their Bake Off event to present a cheque for £1,000.
The charity was first introduced to us by a former student, Olivia Cork, who worked with them whilst receiving treatment. Alsager students liked the charity’s work to equip teenage-friendly wards and suites in hospitals with family rooms and internet access. Funds were raised with supermarket bag-packs, sponsored abseils and fairs.
Vanessa commented that: “It is of enormous comfort and a real boost that young people going through really challenging and tough treatment programmes know that other teenagers are fighting their corner and doing all they can to improve their hospital environment.”
