At Alsager School our aim is to ensure that all of our pupils strive to reach their full potential. All pupils have targets set for every subject that they take and these targets are based on prior attainment and teacher input.
Pupil progress is monitored in each lesson by class teachers through classwork, assessments, contributions to the lesson and homework.
There are three assessment points for each year group throughout the academic year where class teachers input a grade, a behaviour for learning mark and a grade for homework.
Data is analysed by the class teacher and where a pupil is under performing an ‘in class action plan’ will be implemented. The Head of Faculty will also analyse the data and respond to underperformance with appropriate intervention. Form tutors also provide support for their tutees. In addition to this, a progress manager has responsibility for monitoring the progress of key groups and will implement intervention strategies, meetings with pupils, parents and staff as required.
It is important to celebrate pupil progress in order to raise aspirations for all pupils. The school’s Keep on Track programme rewards pupils who are meeting their targets.
In order to qualify for the reward (a school pin), pupils must meet the following criteria:
* They must be on track in English and Maths and on target in all other subjects. We recognise that this is very challenging and therefore we will include pupils who are off track in one subject at KS4 and two subjects at KS3 (unless it is Maths or English).
Celebration assemblies are held on a termly basis for all year groups.
In year 11, pupils who are on track are also entered into a prize draw where they have the chance to win a voucher or prom ticket.
