Miss Robertson and Miss Smith have been working closely with the Stonewall charity; a charity whose aim is to improve equality for gay, bisexual and transgender people. As a result of this the school has set up an LGBT+ lunch club every Thursday, for any students who wish to discuss LGBT+ issues.
The club has proved a great success and so far we have discussed the availability of LGBT+ books in the LRC, upcoming films which promote LGBT+ rights and how to make Alsager School a more tolerant environment for all its students. The group have aptly named themselves RAINBOW which stands for Really Awesome Individuals Now Becoming Openly Wonderful.
The school has also been awarded champion status by Stonewall for the work it has done so far in improving the experience of LGBT+ students within the school and we are striving to achieve silver champion status in the near future.
