Dear students and parents
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we’ve all found our way through this past week of remote learning. I hope that by now, you have been successfully accessing your learning, managed to secure some support for any teething issues you might have faced and understand what is expected from you.
We have decided to make a small adjustment to students’ timetables in order to provide a substantial amount of time away from computer screen in the middle of the day. At lunch time we have moved form time for those year groups who have 2nd lunch (Year 8, 9, 11 and 13) This will mean you will now attend form time at 12.50. Years 7, 10 and 12 will continue to have form at 12.05. This allows all students and staff to have a good break away from the computer screen, get something substantial to eat and perhaps leave the house to go for a walk or complete some form of daily exercise. Please make sure you prioritise this time for your mental and physical wellbeing.
Along with this change to support wellbeing can I remind you all that we are using the lesson times that allow for a minimum of 10 minutes break between each lesson. These are the ones we have been using consistently in school. Please make sure you are making the most of this time, getting up and moving around, getting a drink or a snack and most importantly moving away from your computer screen.
We have had reports of some of the lesson recordings not being available on the Team chat following lessons. A way we have found to resolve this is to scroll all the way up to the very top of the chat for that Team, not just of that lesson but the whole chat, then scroll all the way to the bottom again and the recording will appear. It is not ideal but until Microsoft suggest a better solution then this seems to be working as a solution.
If you are having trouble joining live lessons or accessing certain aspects of the learning can you contact the class teacher by e-mail in the first instance. If you are having more general problems with access caused by a lack of internet connection or limited/no access to a computer please get in touch with IT support using the e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org There may be something we can do to support you or help resolve these issues.
Finally we will be resetting all photos on your Office 365 accounts. Please do not change them again. May I remind you you about not sharing your password with anybody else and if you believe another student knows what yours is please change it. You will need to use your school e-mail to access Teams lessons and will not be admitted to them as a guest user.
School is a very strange place without the usual buzz of students and we look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future. I hope that when we do you feel ready and equipped to continue with your learning. To do this, engaging with your remote learning is paramount. If you have any problems or concerns please do let us know.
Sending best wishes to you all,
Mr R Pearce
