Question Time

Before half term, our A Level Politics students welcomed Fiona Bruce, MP for Congleton at that time, for a ‘Question Time’ session. The students applied their knowledge of UK Politics to present the MP with a series of challenging and thought-provoking questions on a range of issues, from Boris Johnson’s leadership to Brexit and the environment.

The students greatly enjoyed this opportunity for an ‘up close’ discussion with a Westminster politician and described it as ‘very insightful for the life of an MP’, adding that it made them ‘feel valued and respected in their political opinions’.

Mrs Bruce commended the Alsager students who took part in the successful event, commenting “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the students and their questions were interesting and thought provoking without being in any way aggressive, for which I thank and commend them. The event was an example to many of my professional colleagues of how political discourse should be conducted. The students I met were a credit to the school and it would be a pleasure to welcome any of them to Parliament.”

Politics teacher, Mrs Acir, said: “The event was a great success and will prove to be of benefit to the students as they move forward in their studies.”
