‘Primate’ win Battle of the Bands

On Monday 18th March, year 11 students Josh Baker, Will Crump and Zak Bowker aka ‘Primate’, won the 2019 final of Battle of the Bands. The annual event, open to Cheshire East schools, is organised by the Love Music Trust and the finals took place at Crewe Lyceum.

Four bands made the final – two from All Hallows’ Catholic College, one from Sandbach School and of course Primate. Everyone had a fantastic time and there was no shortage of talent on stage, but Primate stood out for the judging panel. The judges said that when Primate were on stage they felt like they were at a professional concert; their 20 minute slot was full of energy and all three boys were obviously enjoying performing. The judges were also impressed by the two original songs that Primate played, encouraging them to continue writing as their own pieces sounded just as good as the covers they performed.

As a result of winning Battle of the Bands, Love Music Trust has invited Zak, Will and Josh to play at their Summer Concert that takes place at Clonter Opera Theatre in Congleton in June.  Primate are also hoping to perform at this year’s Alsager Music Festival, so make sure you go along and support them. Well done boys for bagging another win for Alsager School!
