Powertrain and Systems Testing Apprentice

Congratulations to year 11 student, Alice Clarke, who has been selected from 50 shortlisted candidates to gain a place as a Powertrain and Systems Testing apprentice at Bentley Motors. Fantastic achievement, as, at only 16 she was selected from a broad field which included graduates and post A level students. She was initially screened by telephone interview and impressed them by fielding some very tough questions, including detailed information on gas emissions that she just reeled off like a true professional. Alice is studying Tech RM and Graphics at GCSE and has been keen on engineering and maths for many years; taking part in the school’s Young Engineers project. She is very excited about the opportunity she has been given and keen to promote more females in the field of engineering.

Mr Middlebrook was one of the first to congratulate Alice: “She has done incredibly well to secure this position, especially when you consider she was competing against candidates who were much older than her. It goes to show that determination and hard work really do pay off, because Alice has worked so hard to achieve her goal of working in design and engineering. Everyone is incredibly proud of her.”
