We are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results. The class of 2015 have exceeded expectations and broken several school records in the process. 70% of pupils achieved 5 A* – C including English and mathematics. In both English and maths 80% of pupils gained grades A* – C. Other A* – C successes included German 98%, Drama 93%, Physics 89%, Biology 86%, and Music 86%. In RE, French and Physics over 40% of all the grades were A*/A. A staggering half of all students achieved at least 1 A*/A grade with a quarter of the cohort gaining 5 or more grades A*/A . Across the board many pupils exceeded their targets and made way above ‘expected progress’ based on their ability.
Outstanding individual performers include; Megan Preston and Molly Vokes who each achieved 11 A* and 1 A, Catherine Haley and Tim Hargreaves who both gained 10 A* and 2 As, Alice Allen 9 A* and 3 As and Cameron Brookes 8 A* and 4 As.
Alongside these fantastic GCSE results, pupils were successful in a selection of vocational courses ranging from Hairdressing to Agriculture. They are now ready for the world of work and further study and should be very proud of themselves. Those pupils who stood out include Rhianna Beetham and Frankie Birch, who both achieved their VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Beauty Services at South Cheshire College, John Manning, achieved his Diploma in land based studies and Josh Dixon, achieving his Pearson BTEC Certificate in Construction. All have secured places in the Sixth Form or at colleges to further their studies.
It is always a real pleasure to see so many tense and nervous faces turn into happy, smiling and relieved ones as the class of 2015 opened their results and celebrated with family, friends and teachers. All the staff were celebrating too.
Mr Middlebrook, said; “We are absolutely delighted with these superb results which are the result of hard work from both pupils and staff, together with the support of parents and carers. What is most pleasing is the huge numbers of pupils who exceeded their targets and made massive progress during their time here at Alsager. For example over half the entire year group made above expected progress in English Literature, French, Food Technology, Drama, Music, Physics and RE. Astonishing! Our congratulations to the outstanding class of 2015 and we look forward to welcoming a record number of them into our fantastic Sixth Form who celebrated great results last week too!”
We still have places available in our highly successful Sixth Form College for those students who do not yet have a post 16 course secured for September 2015. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01270 871122 for more information.
