Students will step down from full time lessons on Friday 27th May. It is intended that the period after this, in the run up to their exams, is used to prepare for the forthcoming exams. Many students make fully productive use of study leave by studying and revising independently at home but there are also a number of revision sessions being run by teachers to assist students in their preparation and students would be advised to attend them wherever possible. Students are also welcome to use the LRC and Sixth Form study area should they wish to revise in school.
Students who have exams prior to the official commencement of study leave will be authorised a day off school to revise the day before the exam.
Exams can be stressful, especially when students are under pressure to achieve certain grades for a university place. Please talk to Mrs Barton or myself if you are struggling to manage in the run up to the exams or if you need some advice on how best to revise and organise your time. There is a guide on how to be prepared on the day of the exam in the section on exams on the school website.
Return of school equipment
Please return any textbooks or equipment to your subject teachers once you have sat the last exam in each subject as well as any books that you have borrowed from the LRC.
Sixth Form Prom
This will be held at the De Vere Wychwood Park Hotel on Thursday 30th June 2016. From 6.30pm to 7.30pm parents are welcome to attend as staff will present students with subject and whole school awards in recognition of their contribution to Alsager School. The remainder of the evening will be for students and staff only. Entry for students and their guests is by ticket only. The actual tickets will be handed out before students leave.
Results Counselling Service
Hopefully you will achieve the grades required for the next stage of your education or career. However if this does not turn out to be the case we will be running advice and guidance clinics on Thursday 18th August from 9.00 to 12.00 and on Friday 19th August from 10.00 – 12.00. There is also advice and information about UCAS and Clearing on the UCAS website (www.ucas.com). If you have any further questions or concerns about your UCAS application speak to Mrs Barton or myself.
Students who have not applied to university
If you have not applied to university and are hoping to find employment by September you should also check the school website for apprenticeship and job opportunities. Please contact us if you need help or advice when completing these applications. If you would also like the school to act as a referee we are happy to do this but please let us know in advance.
As their time in the Sixth Form comes to a close I would like to wish all students in Year 13 success in the forthcoming examinations and the very best for their future beyond Alsager School.
