Alsager School

History Trip

Some year 8 students enjoyed a History trip to the Staffordshire Regiment Museum and National Memorial Arboretum.

Students spent the morning at the Staffordshire Regiment Museum learning about conditions in the trenches, handled WW1 uniforms and equipment and discovering more about local war heroes. In the afternoon students travelled to the National Memorial Arboretum where students received a guided tour of many of the memorials dedicated to those who served during WW1 as well as the shot at dawn memorial which is dedicated to the 306 British and Commonwealth soldiers who were executed after court-martial for desertion.

Miss Harvey said: “The students were fantastic representatives for the school and we received praise from both the staff at the museum and arboretum for their inciteful questions and impeccable behaviour.”
