We had an exceptional standard of entry this year for our legendary “Christmas Bake-Off”. There were frolicking penguins in bobble hats and scarves, whimsical santas and starry cupcakes.
It was a delight to see the students work with sophistication with piping, gold lustre and ganache. The fondant flowed and the intricate snowflakes were stunning. Kirsty Hughes in Year 8 took first place for lower school having designed a charming igloo scene with a fruity sponge whilst Lara Hall created a stunning chocolate brownie ‘christmas pudding’ drizzled with a creamy white chocolate glaze. The top chef from Aramark Catering, Matthew Bennett, and the Catering Manager, Laura Bennett, donned Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry masks to add to the judging fun.
All cakes were then sold on to Dod College students and the wider school to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust. A tremendous £255 was achieved from the cake sale and other Christmas activities.
