Dear Parents / Carers
As you may or may not be aware Alsager School converted to become an academy in September 2013. When we converted, we established Alsager Multi Academy Trust (AMAT), this meant that other schools would be able to join the organisation if or when they wanted to in the future. The government have been encouraging the growth of multi academy trusts for some time now. This is for several reasons, such as; staff can be employed by one organisation but work across different schools, it helps with economies of scale, expertise can be shared across schools to help raise standards in schools, it provides development opportunities for staff and improve collaboration between schools etc.
Weston Village Primary School, with whom we have always worked closely, approached AMAT a while ago about joining the trust. Since then, negotiations have been running smoothly in the background and I am delighted to let you know that Weston Primary School are planning to join Alsager Multi Academy Trust at Easter 2018. There are many benefits of this, as I have outlined above and in terms of the leadership and management of the two schools. Certain staff will be working across two sites and some management systems will become closely aligned. However, from a students’ and parent / carers’ point of view, you will see very little change, the two schools will operate pretty much as now. I will continue as Headteacher of Alsager School, as will Mrs Mitchell as Headteacher at Weston, however, I will take on an additional oversight role across the trust.
I am really excited by this development and can see many benefits for both schools, however, if you have any questions about it, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
Many thanks for your continued support
