There are 3 assessment points during year 12 and three during year 13.
After each assessment point students’ progress toward their target grades is reviewed and where students are not working at their target grade they will be provided with a comprehensive intervention support programme. This can include compulsory supervised study during the Wednesday afternoon enrichment periods and other study periods, compulsory after school sessions and extra mentor sessions with their form tutor. Where this intervention is necessary parents will be informed. The intervention programme is designed to help the student to improve their study skills and subject knowledge in order that they work towards achieving a grade which reflects their true ability.
Assessment point three in year 12 is informed by the internal progression exams which students sit in April. Results of these exams also determine whether a student is able to continue with a course into year 13. Details of year 12 to 13 progression can be found in the Progression Policy in the Policies Section of this website.
