Year 7 Transition to Alsager School – Sept 2021

Year 6 Day at Alsager School – June 2021

We look forward to extending a very warm welcome to your child, who will be joining us in September 2021. I hope that they will enjoy and benefit from a ‘typical day’ here at Alsager School.  Individual letters have now all been posted home with all the details you will require.

Arrangements for Year 6 visit days.

  • The children from our Feeder Schools will spend the day with their fellow classmates, where school bubbles will be maintained. For those pupils coming from non-Feeder schools, they will form a bubble on the day in a group of about 15.
  • The children should come dressed as they would be during a normal day for their own school. Please can you also ensure that your child brings a pen, pencil and a ruler.
  • Currently all students at Alsager wear masks in corridors, classrooms and large communal areas, so we ask that all visiting pupils arrive with a mask for use during the day. The local authority has recommended that all visiting pupils have a lateral flow Covid test prior to visiting us here at school.  We ask for your co-operation with regard to this being done prior to the visit day.  Full details will be issued by the local authority.  In the event of your child testing positive, please follow all NHS guidance.

  1. Arrival – Children should arrive at school reception for 9.00am. They will then assemble in in PE1 for an assembly. Please do not come to reception with your child.  If you could drop them off either in the car park or in one of the local roads it would be most appreciated.
  2. Morning Assembly – the children will be greeted by Mrs Snape, Deputy Headteacher Mrs O’Neill, Head of School.
  3. Tour – after Assembly the children will be taken on a tour by one of our Y10 students.
  4. Timetabled Lessons – will begin with Period 2 and the children will have a varied programme. Our Year 10 students will act as guides and escort the children to their various classrooms throughout the day. After each lesson, they will return to their zone in Hollinshead Hall.
  5. Morning Break – children will have a 15-minute morning break in Hollinshead Hall. They will all meet as a group and have the opportunity to go to the toilet. We recommend that they bring a snack and drink with them, as it can be a long morning. They will not have an opportunity at break time to purchase anything.
  6. Lunchtime – Lunch will be provided free of charge to all our visiting students and they will be based in the canteen. During lunchtime, they will also have the opportunity to take part in some sporting activities in the Sports Hall with Mr Morris.
  7. Afternoon session – all pupils will have a lesson in the afternoon before gathering in

Hollinshead Hall to listen to a musical performance by our Year 9 students.

  1. End of School Day – The school day will end at 14:45pm, the children will be brought to the Leisure Centre courtyard where they should be collected. (This is just to the side of the entrance of our reception entrance).
