Transition Programme August 2020

We are pleased to be able to offer the following dates in August as part of our reformed transition programme.

Year 6 pupils will be able to come to school to meet their form tutor, Head of College and Mrs O’Neill, Head of School. Due to access restrictions, we ask that each child is accompanied by one adult only.

The initial meeting will take place in Hollinshead Hall followed by the opportunity to walk around the school site.

Please adhere to the timings below so that we can ensure the safety of everyone on site.

Question: My child is in 7ATa and is called Ben Smith. When do I come in?

Answer: Your last name falls between L-Z. You and your child should come in on Tuesday 25th August at 11:00.

Question: Where do we go?

Answer: Go straight to Hollinshead Hall

Question: Can we walk around the school afterwards?

Answer: Yes, as long as you are following our social distancing guidelines. These will be made clear when you meet the staff in Hollinshead Hall.

Year 7 Students – September 2020

Information packs have been posted home today (June 18th 2020) to all of our Year 7 students who are joining us in September 2020, so please do watch out for your pack arriving.  They will contain various information for students along with how parent/carers can activate student Parent Pay accounts.  In a small number of instances, the parent/pay activation codes are not included in the packs and will follow in due course, so please bear with us if yours isn’t enclosed.

Information with regard to Locker allocation and Music Tuition will be uploaded to the school website so please continue to monitor the website for all Year 7 related news.

For any general enquiries, please email the school at and for any Parent Pay related issues use

Year 7 Transition

In line with DfE guidance (Planning Guide For Primaries, Section 11), we will not be holding any transition days for our Y6 pupils before September.  Over the coming weeks we will hopefully be better informed about what school will look like post July so that we can plan for transition days for September.   We are currently working with our staff to produce some remote induction briefings which we will share with pupils and parents on completion.  We will continue to keep all Y6 pupils and parents informed via our website and through their primary school.   I know that this is not ideal and there will be some pupils who will be anxious about starting secondary school.  At the moment we are striving to ensure that our school is safe for some of our current students to return before the summer holidays.  Should you have any concerns, please access our website.  If you still have queries contact the school and we will contact you directly.

Kind Regards

Transition Team, Alsager School

Our Student Leadership Team have used their time during lockdown, and their excellent IT skills, to produce this ‘Top Tips for Joining Year 7’ video for all of current year 6 students who are coming to Alsager in September.

We are really looking forward to getting to know our new students and hope that they find this useful.
