A Level Results!

Our 6th Form College is celebrating a fantastic set of A level, AS level and BTEC results this summer. 54% of all grades awarded at A level were A*-B, with a quarter of all grades at A*/A and 78% at A*-C. More importantly, the vast majority of students secured their first choice pathway for either university, an apprenticeship or employment with a 100% A*-E pass rate at A level. Mr Middlebrook said: “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s 6th form results, which once again demonstrate our high quality post 16 provision here at Alsager”.

Significant performers included 2 students who secured places at Oxbridge; Cameron Brooks secured 3A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and James Woolley gained A* in English Literature and 2As in English language and Business Studies.

There were many other students who achieved stunning results; Tim Hargreaves achieved 3A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, he will study Maths at Warwick University. Catherine Haley and Megan Preston both achieved 3A*s in Biology, Chemistry and French and have places to study Pharmacy and Medicine at Nottingham University and Queen Mary University, London respectively. James Hill-Cousins gained 2A*s and 1A in Biology, History and Chemistry and is going to study Medicine at Sheffield University. James Smith secured 2A*s and 1A in Biology, Geography and Chemistry and is going to study Dentistry at Sheffield too.

At AS level there were also some incredible results achieved by Alsager students. Elena Steiner achieved a staggering 6As! Connor Riley and Katie Hibbitt each secured 4As.

Mr Middlebrook went on to say: “Congratulations to all our students. These superb results are richly deserved and reflect the hard work put in by our young people, the staff and the fantastic support from our parents and carers. These results are even more pleasing when you consider the huge changes which have been introduced at national level in terms of revised A level courses and the ‘raising of the bar’ by government and the exam boards. These really are ‘new’ qualifications which cannot be compared to previous years and which are extremely challenging. I would like to praise our young people for handing these new, more challenging courses with such maturity and the fantastic staff here at Alsager, for delivering these new specifications so professionally. I wish all of our 6th form leavers much happiness and future success”.

We will continue to offer support for any students who need any further advice and guidance over the coming weeks. In addition places are still available for anyone who does not have a post 16 course secured for September 2017 and would like to join our exceptionally high performing college.
