UKMT Mathematics Challenge

This year so far 26 Year 9 students, 26 Year 10 students and 22 Year 11 students took part in the Intermediate Level UK Mathematics Challenge. The challenge involves answering 25 multiple choice questions in one hour and is sat in school under normal exam conditions however schools across the UK all compete. The challenge stretches pupils to a deeper level of thinking and tests their ability to apply their mathematical knowledge to difficult problems.

High Performers
The top 40% of students nationally receive a gold, silver or bronze certificate in the ratio 1:2:3 and each institution receives a Best in School certificate.

Our Year 9 overall winner was Anabelle Bennett.

Our Year 10 overall winner was Oskar Lindblad

Tim Hargreaves (Year 11) was our ultimate winner and got a Gold certificate, a ‘Best in Year’ certificate and a ‘Best of the Best’ certificate by getting the highest points score out of all the competitors at Alsager. Well done Tim!
