Alsager School

The Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation

Twelve of our year 9 students have successfully completed a BTEC Level 1 in Teamwork, Communication and Citizenship run by CVQO. The Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation is a UK-based education charity offering a broad range of vocational qualifications for young people.

For twelve weeks the students have been out of lessons on a Wednesday to complete various challenges, including a high rope course and parachute jump. They worked together as a team to plan and organise a fundraising car wash in aid of Alsager Animals in Need, raising over £85. All activities were based around teamwork, confidence building and problem solving. Mrs Hewitson, Vocational Learning Leader, said: “All students have worked really hard and been successful in achieving this award.  For some students, it has been a life changing experience”.

Paige Edgington, who competed the course and was also awarded ‘top student’ said; “I have really enjoyed the course, it was not what I expected and have surprised myself with what I have achieved and how my confidence has grown”.

Andy Webster and Adelaide Simpson, their CVQO instructors came in to school today to present all the certificates. Well done to all those who took part and completed the course, congratulations!
