PINC WEEK 2016 – Year 7 – 9
Alsager School turned ‘PINC’ again this year creating a unique and exciting opportunity for their students to Particip8, Innov8, Negotia8, and Co-oper8 their way through many different activities designed to develop new skills, experience fresh and exciting activities and undertake challenges that they would not normally have the opportunity to do in school.
The purpose of PINC is to enable students to engage with skills, ideas and activities, which they can see have an immediate link with the world outside of school as well as in. Hopefully these experiences will stimulate new interests whilst enhancing the skills that will set them up for life. This year all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 had the opportunity to visit The Royal Cheshire Show, where they were able to see the best of what Cheshire has to offer, from local food produce, equestrian competitions to rare breed animal farming. The visit was a huge success with all pupils having a great time. During the following days there was a vast range of activities available, both within school or as external trips, ranging from Journalism and Web Design workshops to cake decorating, and creating a Photography exhibition based on the wildlife of Alsager. Externally, Caving, Ice Skating, Skiing, navigating the Peak District and taking a workshop at Emma Bridgewater were a selection of activities available.
PINC leader Miss Taylor said “PINC Week 2016 has been outstanding, it is has given all pupils the opportunity to experience new and exciting activities outside of the classroom. There has been a phenomenal amount of positive feedback from students, staff and parents, which has suggested that giving pupils the unique opportunity to engage in such activities leaves them with a sense of fulfilment, pride and happiness.”
Pupils have commented “ PINC was brilliant, the range of different activities was great, it meant we could try new activities like skiing, make new friends and learn the skills of rugby, which was amazing! We are already looking forward to PINC 2017”
