Year 10 students participated in a MADE TO THINK day on Wednesday 18th April. The interactive two-hour workshop is designed to help students to clarify their career ambitions, as well as set goals and plan for their future.
Using ‘The Lighthouse’ visualisation technique, the students learned about employing SMART targets to help their planning, as well as identifying and learning to work around potential distractions that could prevent them from achieving their aspirations.
The students engaged really well with the different activities, with the feedback at the end highlighting how much the year group got out of the workshop. The evaluations included comments such as “It helped me feel more motivated to achieve goals and more confidence in my targets”, “I have realised that you can only achieve what you want if you visualise and say I will”, “It inspired me with some great tips for motivation”.
Building on this workshop students will be focusing this term on career based activities in their SPIRIT lessons, including producing a CV, interview techniques and application forms. The next big event for Year 10’s will be Careers Focus Day on Wednesday 4th July, followed by two days of ‘Go to Work’ on the Thursday and Friday.
