Alsager Students recognised as Dementia Friends

We are very proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of the following students who have been working with members from the local community and the Alsager Partnership to run and lead our Alsager School Sway Dementia Life Story Project.

Sophia Anthousis, Molly Bestwick, Samara Smith, Eliesha Cummings, Tegan Wainwright  and Jack Derrett alongside Mrs Donathy attended a Dementia Friends Information Session led by Kath Reader from the Alsager Partnership. The session was aimed at raising awareness of Dementia in the local community and how we can turn our understanding of dementia into a practical positive action.  The students and Mrs Donathy are now proud Dementia Friends and the first of many to come from Alsager School!

Every action counts and the students and Mrs Donathy have agreed to wear their Dementia Friend badge and to tell at least 5 friends about the Dementia Friends initiative.  The students continue to work on the Microsoft Sway Life Stories project with couples from the local community and you can see the photographs from the workshops on our Art, Design and Technology Filckr website – https://www.flickr.com/photos/alsagerschool/albums/72157681153828675

We would like to thank the Alsager Partnership and Dementia Friends for their support and inspiration.  It is a wonderful to have the students recognised as Dementia Friends and we are looking forward to developing the project further.
