The now annual Macmillan fundraiser was a huge success again this, pulling in an impressive total of over £550, exceeding the target that was set at £450. Not only does this reflect the dedication of our students to fundraising, but the morning also serves as a coming together for the Lower and Upper Sixth year groups as the first major event on the calendar.
This year’s coffee morning saw a variety of cakes baked and brought in by the students including scones, brownies, muffins and even Bake Off inspired Jaffa cakes! As the name would suggest, there was also coffee, tea and juice on-hand for a light refreshment. Head Boy, Callum Astley, said: “The bake sale went brilliantly this year, more people than ever baked and got involved for such a brilliant cause”.
Director of Sixth Form, Mrs Pole, said: “The coffee morning was a great opportunity for the new year 12 students to get to know the year 13 students better over a coffee and a piece of cake – and all in aid of a fantastic cause”.
In fact, the target was exceeded within an hour of the event opening, which further demonstrates that, in order to raise a lot of money for a worthy cause like Macmillan, all you need is a bit of cake and some willing volunteers.
