We recently held a charity abseil in aid of the four chosen College charities: Alsager Dementia Awareness, Teenage Cancer Trust, Donna Louise Children’s Hospice and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
We welcomed Peak Pursuits who provided technical support and staff to enable the event to run smoothly. Students raised sponsorship for the challenge in teams of between 2 and 6. With holding such a high profile event our aim was to raise a large sum of money to fund the charities, additional to the various smaller activities that take place throughout the year.
154 students scaled down the three story high Andrews building. Head of Royce College, Mr Clegg, said: “It was so pleasing to see so many students wanting to take part and their enthusiasm in raising funds for such good causes. A lot of the students felt challenged by the abseil but the determination overcame any reservation they had, it was an absolutely brilliant day”. With monies still be collected they hope to have raised over £3000.
